Re: Recommended books

Well it's funny you mention how lethal the camel was and rightly so. But 1 relatively unknown fact was just how lethal the engine was to new pilots. The Clerget 9B had a peculiar need and this was that it needed a mixture adjustment immediately after take off. Now this doesn't sound too bad but when...

Re: Starshina Tuffy leaves Kalach

Comrade Tuffy, report to 219 BAD Krasnodar-1 airfield immediately where you will find 244 BAP and be assigned A-20 aircraft #279. On your way to Krasnodar, make yourself familiar with the operational details of the A-20 bomber. http://www.tangmerepilots.co.uk/NewForum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=17678 Cong...

Re: Starshina Tuffy arrives at Kalach

The A-20 does seem to fly particularly well on one engine. After nursing a 110 engine-out towards home and having it wallow like a cow (in winter, no less when she should fly best), a single engine A-20 without having the prop feathered and having lost the critical (left) engine hummed along in mid...

Re: Winged Victory, kindle edition on sale today for less than a Pound

A novel written by a 1918 Camel ace, Winged Victory has been called the best book on World War One flying and was praised by fighter pilots of other wars. It's on sale today for kindle for less than a pound. I have it in paperback and it's magnificent. "The only book about flying that isn't flannel...

Re: Starshina Cowboy arrives at Kalach

Yes and yes. I've had my T.16000 for 8 years now and would only replace it with another T.16000. Lasted a lot longer than my old Saitek Cyborgs which would break after 18 months to 2 years.

Re: Starshina Cowboy arrives at Kalach

We've got a shortage of P-39 pilots (can't think why) so if you've got the P-39 I'd like you to go to the 298 IAP Cowboy.

Oooooohyes I forgot that there were vehicles. TP had a friday fun mission where we crewed up and shot at each other in the dark. I used to like the Air racing as well they were i16s dropped from the TB mothership.
Get your rave hat on Jacko!

I've been waiting for a comment like this - took your time!

I'm trying to remember where I scattered the ashes. In the cats' litter tray I think.
Well you know what they say, best things come to those who wait! :Thumbup

Re: Airfix 1:48 Boulton Paul Defiant: commission build

Sure. I believe Moggy will confirm the content of Commando magazine issue #4481. I quote Alan Burnett and Colin Harvey flew as the crew of a Boulton Paul Defiant night fighter. They shared the same room and spent almost every second of every day with each other... yet the very air around them seeme...
