Re: Fairey Barracuda complete...

Excellent work, Charlie! What was the producer of the kit? I honestly don't remember a brand having Barracuda in its production, maybe apart from ye olde Matchbox or MPM. By the way, on Saturday we are having our model exhibiton and contest I mentioned before. Stay tuned for photos! Cheers Andy, th...

Fairey Barracuda complete...

I didn't have time to photograph this one before my client collected so he has sent a pre-production shot to test lighting before he works his magic on her. He creates amazing photo-realistic composites and I have to say that in most of his images, I cannot tell its a model (he only produces images ...

Re: Charlie should do a "blue peter" type thingy

A very nice idea Bunster, but with the lack of time I have at present it will take more like a bloody year to make something just out of the box let alone any after market details!! :-o I am towards completing a commission build of a Special Hobby Fairey Barracuda (NOT for the faint of heart!), and ...

Re: A few bits of mine

Hi Andy, I'm sorry I have not introduced myself yet so welcome to TP...the best Gentlemen's Club there is! ;) Some very nice work you have there, I particularly like the P51. I think currently there is only Reggie and myself who build so its great to have another chap on board to share work/projects...

Re: New commission: Fairey Barracuda & torpedo/dolly work in progress...

I always prime surfaces (even though some state that it works without), just to give the paste something to 'bite'. I apply a small amount with a cotton bud and just rub on until a sheen starts to appear, then polish from there. What were you working it onto? I tested it on a 1/72 cheap P51 to try ...

I tried that AK Interactive paste and couldn't work with it. I must have done something wrong :( I always prime surfaces (even though some state that it works without), just to give the paste something to 'bite'. Re: New commission: Fairey Barracuda & torpedo/dolly work in progress...

Thanks chaps. The rope was supplied with the resin torpedo. It was a bit too thick so I scaled it down by removing a couple of threads and re-twisting the rope. Metal effect was done using AK Interactive metal paste (really nice stuff!) And Tamiya smoke to dull it down.

New commission: Fairey Barracuda & torpedo/dolly work in progress...

I was asked to build a Fairy Barracuda MkII by a chap who does photorealism/composite work. He also wanted a torpedo and dolly and I have finally completed this tiny little thing along with a resin torpedo. The Barracuda (pics to follow when complete) is a 1:48 kit by Special Hobby and is the worst ...

Not sure if I ever posted this one...

I have been going through some old model pics and this Mk1 was a commission build for a chap in Australia who had an interest in Flt/Lt Desmond Sheen of 72Sqn. I cant remember if I ever posted it here so apologies if I did! Tamiya 1:48 with lots of aftermarket stuff and a full rivet job. http://i.im...

Charlie's (genius) guide to unbuilding and repairing a PC...

So, as I said before, I am a genius, therefore have offered some sage advice below on repairing a PC: 1. Shout/swear a lot at your PC when it stops working 2. Open it up a stare in wonder at all the lovely cables and things 3. Take a deep breath, close your eyes and pull out the cables (after convin...
