Re: Advice Please: Nummy Hunkered In, Getting Ready to Blow Cash on good Sim Computer

I don't recommend playing IL2 over wireless - I would always recommend using a cable to connect the PC to your router.

Re: Info on recent stress test mission

Reggie While it is certainly true that the Luftwaffe was on the decline late in 1944, they were not quite yet the spent force that they would become after the decimation of Operation Bodenplatte. Indeed, whenever possible they would still try to operate in Gruppe or even Geschwader strength in orde...

Info on recent stress test mission

Gosho was asking what the recent stress test was about and what it may mean for future missions, so I thought that I would try and explain what I'm doing, what I'm trying to achieve and how I'm attempting to get there, all without (hopefully) boring you too much. The test itself was to see whether r...

Re: New and revised mission groups

I've just been looking at the groups that Prang used for his mission on Sunday and they have fewer 'moving parts' than mine do for getting aircraft to go home if one of a pair is damaged. I'll work these into a couple of variants and send them out for use instead of my ones.

Re: Mission building guidance

Just another quick point - nobody in the Intelligence community would want to cost friendly lives and will already have built many of the margins into the actual briefing itself as much as possible given the movements and deployment of other units in the area. If it were easier for us to get Blue on...

Re: Mission building guidance

Before I start, please forgive the tone of this post if you find it in any way condescending. It is not in any way meant to be so, but I am not good at teaching and have frequently been told that my attempts to do so end up sounding that way. I guess that turnabout is fair play, so here is some guid...

Re: Mission building guidance

If we need the squadrons to fly at certain altitudes for any reason, put that in the brief and the mission leaders will take it into account. We don't want an 'arms race' between mission design and mission leaders so that either we need to put enemy aircraft stupidly high to achieve bounces or tacti...

Re: Mission building guidance

The specifics are taken from the 126 Wing RCAF Osprey book that I have made available to all Squadron Pilots and especially the Mission Builders. https://1drv.ms/b/s!AumCbU9W2zRehwm1lWlRkFnW8lJo?e=BaAv88 Firstly this section from page 35 https://i.postimg.cc/XqDyxdVJ/Altitudes.jpg Whilst this is spe...

Re: Mission building guidance

From my point of view I am trying to direct the Mission Building team to recreate some relatively well documented encounters, which means flying the profile that the aircraft of the time flew on that date as best as possible. I personally spent something like 20 hours fine-tuning that mission last n...

Re: New and revised mission groups

Just sent out a group for 3x Bf109 G14 to take off, go to a target, attack area for 10 mins then fly home and land. The planes seemed to fly in echelon right.

Prangster recently posted a group with destroyed buildings for the Rheinland map too.

I'll now be wandering over to Merlin's hut to see if he's set fire to anything else.

Carry on.
Tent, sir. Unusual of you to not notice that we've been under canvas for some time now......

Welcome Kolo. Hope you enjoy your time with us.
