Re: New and revised mission groups

I really can't think of any other groups necessary at the moment - it looks like you have most everything covered. Anything else would be a bit more mission / situational specific I think.

Re: VR hints and tips

16. Consider getting at least the demo version of VoiceAttack, as you can program up to 10 commands with it without a license key, and set it up for things you might fumble around with in the heat of the moment - you know, like bailing out of the plane when it's in flames.

Re: New VR Rig

I fly DCS with a guy from Canada that uses a Thrustmaster Warthog and recently purchased these desk mounts for his setup: https://www.monstertech.de/en/product/joystick-hotas-table-mount/ He flies with a Rift S, and said that of all the desk mounts he's used, those are the best he's found - he's ver...

Re: VR thoughts

However, someone (Tom, Silk, Merlin, the cute bank woman?) solved one aspect of VR when they suggested a swivel chair. In real life you're young enough to rubber-neck with your "head on a swivel" but in VR (unlike Trac IR) to see behind you you must crank your neck around. Yes, this. I'm not young ...

Re: VR thoughts

I've had an Oculus Rift since they became commercially available (I bought mine on pre-order). I don't have any experience unfortunately with any other headsets - I was looking forward to the Pimax, but with Merlin's experience with them I decided against purchasing one. I'm planning on getting a Ri...

Re: Bypass steam vr for oculus

Okay Blackjack, how are you getting this to work on your end? How do you have it set up? It was working on my system for a couple days, but now I simply cannot get OpenComposite to run IL2 through my Rift no matter what I try. I've tried the full System Wide install, and I've tried installing the .D...

Re: Bypass steam vr for oculus

Yep, agreed. While I don't see a massive improvement, the improvements I do see are definitely worth it (and frankly it's worth it to avoid SteamVR in any case anyway).

Re: How can I say this...

I wouldn't spray WD40 in there even if it didn't mess with the circuitry - it'll eventually gum it up worse (requiring more sprayings). I think Bunny has the best option on this if you want to fix it... I assume it's out of warranty?

Re: Steam VR and OTT

That's a good question. I've wondered about that. I was toying with some of those settings with Skyrim VR - the default setting was 174%, just like Tom's, but I messed around with pushing Skyrim VR's specific setting up to 150%, and my OTT is typically hard set at 1.5. I really didn't notice much of...
