Re: Feldwebel Sparky arrives at Kalach

Thanks to Merlin and Silk and whoever else helped in the substantial work recreating the AF's after update 3.001 rendered the old missions inoperative. I just hope today's update 3.002 doesn't mean- :Sad One more AF and I'll achieve the lofty status of sprog and begin to collect a matched set of bul...

Re: AF Mission Files

With the jump to update 3.001 the old AF mission files didn't work and I appreciate all the great work you guys did to remake the AF's in the new system. The first rework was a misty snowy 'Blue Christmas' setting. Someone listening to the old Elvis song? Now it's summertime, a great mix of severe c...

Good job. You're almost finished.

I hope you had something caustic and witty chalked on the side of the bomb.

Welcome,

Shoot like Tom, just not at Tom. Except on Mid-week melees.

Good to have you aboard.

Re: Feldwebel Sparky arrives at Kalach

Jacko, I'll try that soon but for AF3 I think I need to practice air to mud with the 109. I will definitely try the 87 for fun as you recommend. If I can't take out tanks or artillery pieces maybe I can take out a tree, with my engine. Don't pray for the opposing ground forces. Pray for the squirrels.

Re: Feldwebel Sparky arrives at Kalach

I took Tom's advice, used it in conjunction with my first video recording so I could review impact point and cockpit view/ altitude upon release. I need more practice but Tom's advice was very helpful. When I follow Tom's instructions to the letter the bomb hits directly on target. When.

"...shouldn't level bombing from altitude be part of the training schedule?
perhaps we could start with Sparky :-)"

Nah, you should start with a promising student. Besides, it's training for prospective bomber pilots. I only recognize two a/c types: fighters and targets.

Re: Feldwebel Sparky arrives at Kalach

Gentlemen, in preparation for AF3 I seek video or written guidance to fighter-bombering. Moggy posted a three-part guide to level-bombing (they should charge me by the hyphen) but I'll not use niceties like keypads and specialized bombsights. Those are for the fellows who passed math classes. I 'pas...

Re: Feldwebel Sparky arrives at Kalach

Thanks Tom, I'll be there.

Thanks to Tom and Silk and Wardy and everyone else helping me tweak my VR video settings in IL2 and Steam VR. You guys are the best. Now I may see you a half-second before I hear "takka takka takka". May see you.

Re: Feldwebel Sparky arrives at Kalach

I ordered MFG Crosswinds a month ago but they won't be here until May so I picked up some Thrustmaster rudder pedals to get me through the waiting period. Alas, they slid across the wooden floor whenever I tried to taxi so I bought a couple pieces of plywood and glued the little rudder pads to the p...

Re: Feldwebel Eddie arrives at Kalach

In the background of that picture are chains and meathooks. That's why I'll fly fighters. Single crew aircraft. I hope you don't take bomber crew drill literally.

Re: Feldwebel Sparky arrives at Kalach

They did great work refitting AF1 after BoS update 3.001 required extensive rework (that was my impression) on the fly and they finished in 'rabbit out of the hat' time so Eddie and I could fly as scheduled.

"click, click"

[Two clicks of the mic button, my attempt to be even less wordy than the abbreviated "Roj" fighter jocks substitute for '"Roger"].

Thanks everyone and Merlin and Silk and I look forward to getting my coolers working. I played a bit as Silk's gunner and that was fun too.

Re: Welcome Guests.

No worry. Leg man. I left the copy of Big and Bouncy on the table for Bomber Command boys. Didn't wanna' touch it. Not sure where it'd been. Tomorrow's my first stab at training. If I make it into the air my formation skills will probably be limited to 'same day, same way' in that I'll probably wand...

Re: Welcome Guests.

Tomorrow's my first crack at training flight one and I welcome any hints. The rules I've collected so far are: 1. Shoot Tom 2. Shoot Tom again 3. Fly on the left side of the sky 4. Shoot Tom down. He likes it, he needs it, he wants it. 5. If any of the pilots ask you to put on one of their old schoo...
