Re: Welcome Guests.

T-Rex, if you get involved now you've picked a good time. Once you complete the OTU flights it'll be time for the I-16 and MiG 3 campaign and then all the shiny new Battle of Bodenplatte aircraft should be released and will occupy our campaigns for a while with Tempests, P-51, P-47, P-38, Bf-109K-4,...

Re: Feldwebel Fritz leaves Kalach

...that's the amusing part - my squadmates kept formation and didn't fly off to continue the mission. ...back in the Roger Wilco days.... You were the mission leader. They did exactly as they should and the emissions guidelines (no tawdry remarks, children) might prevent radio transmissions asking ...

Yes, Tom's lazy inverted low high-speed pass and roll through the landing pattern full of crippled, smoking aircraft trying to land with bits falling off.

The quiet life. :Peace

Re: Feldwebel Fritz leaves Kalach

Thanks all! Looking forward to getting into the Ops on Sundays - and a big thanks to Merlin for the OTU flights. I'll make sure to get all the skins installed tonight. - If you do anything exceptional make it a good one or they will never let you forget it. Heh - yes. ... Like the time ...long flig...

Re: Welcome Guests.

110s are great fun. Yeah, but I'm glad we don't have to learn a phone-book thick Dash-1 manual and balance fuel between tanks and have partial bus failures and have to know what's AC and what's DC because AC lies and DC dies and I'm glad we can slave controls to HOTAS rather than clickable cockpits ...

Re: Welcome Guests.

We learn the campaign aircraft well. Currently flying 1941 Operation Typhoon Jabo missions in Bf-109E7 with extra armor and even after dropping bombs those empty racks slow you down. MiGs are faster. We'll do some work in Bf-110s. Aside from manual radiators and coolers and throttle limits IL2 doesn...

Silk, that's a great idea. Once I find the right chair.

Re: Is there a better, more HOTAS sensitive joystick?

Silk, the pictured Monstertech mount is exactly what I have for the joystick. I have a shorter Monstertech mount for my throttle. To be able to rotate my chair I had to raise the base of the joystick (and throttle) above my knees so I removed the joystick extension tube.

Is there a better, more HOTAS sensitive joystick?

I had to remove my joystick extension so I could raise the joystick to accommodate a swivel chair (easier to check six in VR). The Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS joystick is now mounted high and it requires a lot of force to move the stick making it much, much harder to fly precisely, or even marginally...

Do you think he can find Concord in a huge hanger at Duxford
He'll go, "My clue is Concord. Concord is a type of grape. And it's purple." [Pulls out slide rule to perform calculus]

Re: Starshina Tuffy arrives at Kalach

The A-20 does seem to fly particularly well on one engine. After nursing a 110 engine-out towards home and having it wallow like a cow (in winter, no less when she should fly best), a single engine A-20 without having the prop feathered and having lost the critical (left) engine hummed along in mid-...

Re: Starshina Cowboy arrives at Kalach

...P-39L...looks to be a good fighter/ground attack plane. I'm afraid our one TP ground attack mission with the Little Cobra showed why the Russians didn't use it as ground attack. It's very vulnerable to ground fire. Many a/c with engine damage give you a bit of time to fly towards friendly territ...

Good show. One more to go. The A-20 is a fine bird.
