Re: Welcome Guests.

Any third-party software which can give the user an in-game advantage over someone who does not have it is in my opinion cheating. It is not difficult to imagine a situation where contacts are marked on your screen (as if markers were turned on) by a third-party software which is being injected into...

Re: Welcome Guests.

That is borderline cheating imho but they're quite popular, indeed.

Can't use those in VR, so I can't comment much more than that.

Re: Welcome Guests.

Thanks Eddie, was just thinking with the current restrictions tending to be online a lot and would be great to see when others were also online for a catch up and maybe some flying on a server that was available. My discord tends to always be on when I'm online and is an easy way to see if tagged f...

Here are some tips for building the PC yourself from Intel

Also, make sure to get CPU thermal paste, too. The Arctic brand is a classic.

Re: Advice Please: Nummy Hunkered In, Getting Ready to Blow Cash on good Sim Computer

Howdy Gosho and Eddie: First, Gosho, the nephew approves the list. As does a friend in England who makes controls for commercial flight simulators. Eddie: the nephew did say think about a better processor. (These sixteen year old Nerds know everything.) What processor would you recommend? And case ...

So, you can expect a response from your nephew of the sort "What is that, that guy doesn't know what they're talking about!" and he'd be right :)

It is a good starting point of the discussion I hope.

Keep twisting!

Re: Advice Please: Nummy Hunkered In, Getting Ready to Blow Cash on good Sim Computer

I'm surfing the net and this came up which is affordable. Would something like this work for Il2--and video editing? https://www.newegg.com/allegiance-gaming-alg-8032rx570/p/3D5-000P-00009 Thanks I think graphics card is not up to the task and it doesn't have a decent HDD which you said you needed.

Re: Advice Please: Nummy Hunkered In, Getting Ready to Blow Cash on good Sim Computer

Nummy, I jumped in a web-site (https://www.letsbld.com) to quickly create a configuration to your requirements albeit slightly above your budget. I haven't used these guys but wanted to just give you a ball park. Here it is: CASE: NZXT H510 (White) $69.99 GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti - ZOTAC GAMI...

Re: Advice Please: Nummy Hunkered In, Getting Ready to Blow Cash on good Sim Computer

Nummy, can we assume you already have all peripherals you need - i.e. good monitor, mouse + keyboard, headset + mic, etc.? Is there are a chance you have a case and some fans from an older rig? Maybe a PSU? I could be getting out of hand here :) but if you can salvage any of the non-essential compon...

Re: Any throttle recommendations?

I've used the Thrustmaster and think it is good value for money. But then I don't expect that much of a throttle - if it slides nicely and has enough buttons, I like it.

Re: New VR Rig

I use Virpil's stick + extension and throttle. They're a great kit and you know the good stuff but be prepared for some software glitches as their drivers' team appears to be lagging behind. For example, it may turn out exactly half of your throttle quadrant buttons / axis stop working until you re-...
