Re: For those thinking of starting

Silly me - I started reading the manual: The Hornet has three master modes of operation: Navigation (NAV), Air-to-Air (A/A), and Air-toGround (A/G). The displays and avionics equipment operations are tailored as a function of the selected master mode. A/A master mode is entered by either pressing th...

Re: For those thinking of starting

The hardest part seems to be figuring out which controls to map to the HOTAS. That said, with ATC and level hold in play it is a lot easier to fumble around in the cockpit flicking switches and (oo-er) pulling knobs etc. A couple of hours in and I'm doing cold starts and landing on a carrier ok. I h...

Re: For those thinking of starting

Is the Open Beta compatible with the latest official release, or is the same version needed?

Re: Welcome Guests.

In the 109s it takes along time to drop the flaps fully - a really long time. Contrast with the Spit which is immediate.

Re: Welcome Guests.

Hi start with the Bf109F-4 as it is the easiest aircraft to manage in terms of controls. There is no manual radiator or prop pitch control. It is also stable at low speed so it is good for landing. Alos watch Requiem's guides to each aircraft on Youtube, as they deal with the fundamentals. Good luck...

A black eye probably. These days it’s getting harder to justify such expense.

Re: Looking for rudder pedals

Logitech G pedals at around a ton... There are also these: https://shop.thrustmaster.com/en_gb/t-flight-rudder-pedals.html I went from CH Pro (that broke) to Saitke Combat pros to the MFGs, and I agonised a lot about that. No regrest at all, though they are flippin' expensive. As a half-way house y...

Re: Looking for rudder pedals

MFG Crosswinds plus the optional damper. Expensive but bomb-proof. That or the Virpil pedals. They are expensive but to me anything else is a false economy. It’s the only thing I can’t imagine ever upgrading again. Edit: I overlooked the "budget" bit. But, a lot of pedals are now expensive, to the p...

Re: Pico 4 VR

What Gramps said. What I don’t know is whether or not it will ease the load on the CPU too especially for some thing like IL-2.

Re: Pico 4 VR

That's why I like my Index so much - it just works with no hassle at decent fps. I particularly like having a wider fov, and am just hoping that the Deckard will be an all-round improvement for all aspects. Foveated rendering plus a high resolution and mega fov would be amazing.

Re: Pico 4 VR

Interesting stuff.

I'm currently waiting for the release of the Valve Deckard before considering upgrading, and there are suggestions that it may be a wireless headset.

Re: great battles

I’ll have a look later but from memory external view is one of the F keys - F3 or 4 I think, then the panning keys are just set up how you want them in the “Camera” settings.
