VKB sticks and etc

Post by LittleJP » Thu Sep 22, 2016 12:32 pm

Amazon lists them in stock

Gods, I'm tempted but I want to hold out for the stick/throttle setup, especially the gunfighter mk1

I know what you mean. I've been considering the merits of a TM Warthog Hotas, but reports of 'stiction' and the price have made me wary. Once VKB roll out a throttle with a gazillion buttons on it that combines with the Gladiator Pro I may no longer be able to resist. That metal gimbal system of theirs sounds fantastic.

To be honest, I've only ever needed all the buttons on my warthog in DCS, and even then only for the A-10 in particular. In IL-2, I use at most two POV hats, two directionals and 5 or 6 fire buttons.

If we can use a software solution with the VKB products to add modifiers with a throttle/stick/pedal setup, I'll shelf my warthog in a heartbeat, since I'm just not convinced of the durability on my remaining warthog stick.

The thing I noticed was "Ships in 1 to 2 months" hardly a stock item.

I plan to get the new Thrustmaster TWCS throttle in October, I'll post up if it's any good.

Also I note that the VKB Fat Mamba stick is Euro 295 for EU countries 269 for non EU. Always knew that Brexit was a good idea

Hrm, when I looked at it it said it would ship in 2-4 business days, maybe they ran out of stock already.

I've got it for $300 CAD, including duties and shipping, so guess I lucked out in that regard.

Or maybe not - car worked out cheaper than I had budgeted for, so one VKB Gladiator Pro should be winging it's way in my direction in due course. Won't make me a better pilot of course, but at least now I'll know that it's not the hardware that's holding me back and making me miss :p :))

Oh man, you'll have to tell us how it is.

I'm going to hold out for the throttle, since my warthog stick and saitek pedal setup is more than adequate.

Will do - the review may consist mostly of my swearing in incredulity that I have it and drooling everywhere (that's partly the anticipation and partly senility), but I'll definitely let you know what I think.

[Expletive] Yodel have managed to misdirect my parcel to Cambridge of all places. Do these people have no idea about geography. Worst thing for me is that as it's now Friday I can expect not to get it at all until next week as I had to put a business address for delivery as I'm not at home through the day.

Yodel customer service didn't want to know, just 'keep watching for updates and you'll get it when we can be bothered'. I am fuming with their abysmal customer service.

Oooh that hurts.
In selecting the motto... 'all for one and one for all'... I have done so because it expresses what should be the creed to every Fighter Pilot. Never forget that you are an essential cog in the wheel, and if you break or fail it will let down your brother pilots, and the grimness of war allows for no such weakness.

One package has arrived. Looks rather slim to be a joystick and base, but I'll find out when I get home this evening.

Edit:
Taken a peek inside the outer packaging and it is indeed a VKB Gladiator Pro - yay :banana
