Last night
As those of you who were on last night will know I had problem getting il2 to run. Despite it seemingly working ok before joining silks server when it all went tits up after that.
Thanks for the advice Silk even though it didn’t work! This morning I did a windows update and it now works perfectly - although it had completely changed the graphics settings and view preferences".......funny old things computer games.

Re: Last night
Yeah got it sorted all right, no problem. Sent off my Forum post, tweaked the graphics how I like and guess what? Would not load!!!
Neither would DCS so it's got to be the machine not the program right? Found the latest drivers Nvidea 446.14 loaded them up and it works again, wot a clever boy I am!
Went out, came back, fired up the game and …..you guessed it fails to load again. Don't need the barbers now, hair ripped from head all over keyboard.
So I load the drivers again -well it worked the first time didn't it? And … success I fly, well for now anyway. I was going to put myself down for the bunfight, but the only thing worse than Mr Useless is Mr Unreliable, I'll have to see how it goes over the next 48 hours.

Re: Last night
Fingers crossed, Hunter.
Do you get any error at all? Or it just quits on you?

Re: Last night
Yes there was an error message at first
Dx****[[ not found or somesuch. Which is why I thought it was a direct x error which updating windows would fix.
Later it just would not load

Re: Last night
best thing to do is make yourself a new windows 10 install usb stick from the Microsoft media creation tool
run it and choose all the defaults to keep stuff etc
win10 is designed not to wipe all your precious files as thats how it upgrades everytime it changes version
hunter run winver from the windows start, if you not on windows 10 1909 do win upgrade and allow it to upgrade
1809/1903 are starting to age and 1803 is becoming a liability
even if you are on 1909 either allow win 10 to refresh its files or do a full reinstall, as long as you ask it to keep your files it will

Did they Beat the drum slowly, did the play the pipes lowly?
Did the rifles fire o'er you as they lowered you down?
Did the bugles sound The Last Post in chorus?
Did the pipes play the Flowers of the Forest?

Re: Last night
Thanks for the advice Mothy. I am running 1909 and I had hoped that allowing windows update would be enough.
I'll look into a fresh install, though I am reluctant to mess around too much.

Re: Last night
The decision was taken out of my hands by a massive Windows auto update which took 1.5 hours and now puts me on version 2004. Still have the problem of having to reinstall the NVIDEA drivers after every time the pc is turned off, but it runs well enough.
