Bags, this is Nummy, one of the Yanks in TP, currently off Ops
due to the need for a new gaming computer, the build currently underway.
I lived fifteen years in Asheville, NC, and that is where I started with the TPs.
Now deep in the Heart of Texas ('Cowtown' otherwise known as Ft. Worth)
With luck, I'll meet you in the deadly skies over 1940's Europe.
I'll be ridin' a Tempest.

By the way, it is an excellent idea to join up with these chaps.
They're the finest, and if a bit nuts, they do tolerate eccentricity as did the real RAF. :rof_biggrin

I consider myself a beginner because I'm pretty rusty.
Nummy was around before rust was invented, so no worries there!

I’ll send you an email about OTU etc.
In selecting the motto... 'all for one and one for all'... I have done so because it expresses what should be the creed to every Fighter Pilot. Never forget that you are an essential cog in the wheel, and if you break or fail it will let down your brother pilots, and the grimness of war allows for no such weakness.

Hi All,

Harold here, aka Moose. I’m retired and live in Alberta, Canada. Volunteering is in my blood and I’m currently with a local Special Olympics group. My main passion is coaching basketball, but unfortunately the covid 19 virus cancelled that this year. Hopefully things will be back to some sort of normality next Fall.

It's been quite some time since I last played IL2 (X-plane mostly this past year). Obviously I’ll be extremely rusty but consider myself an “old” diamond in the rough. I expect that I'll be keeping the ground crew gainfully employed making repairs until I get comfy. haha.

I haven’t officially submitted an application yet. I have a quilting project that I’m attempting to complete for a vet buddy of mine. He has PTSD so I’m making him a weighted blanket and I’m about 80% done. Will he find it under his Christmas tree? Stay tuned

Other than that, I just bought a bass guitar (I'll be taking online lessons from a guy in London) much to my wife’s displeasure. She feels it will cut into her time with me..I told her she could take up the drums....and then I ran :rof_biggrin

I’m hoping that if all goes well, I’ll meet you in the near future.

Cheers

Hi Moose,

My wife is way into quilting and several here play guitars. Welcome. There are several of us from the New World. I found the timing beneficial as it means I fly in the afternoon when I'm in the US.

Merry Christmas and stay safe.

Hello Moose welcome to the TP forum. Nice to hear from a 'Canuck'.

Like you I am retired and I am also a recent addition to the TP squadron roster.

You certainly have plenty going on but hope you decide to put in your application to join us. I have been made to feel welcome since day one by the other chaps and have enjoyed completing OTU and getting onto 'Ops'. It is very immersive and great fun in such an organised unit.

Anyway, Merry Christmas and hope to speak to you soon.

Good Day,

Brandy here. I usually go under the nick of Hellfire, but Brandy is another variation around the same theme and sounds perfectly acceptable for the pilot's mess or what do you think ?

I am from south of Bodenplatte, but neither in France, nor German, nor Belgium, nor the Netherlands, so have a guess.

I never flew in a squadron, but I know my way around virtual airplanes. I had a few attempts in air combat, but never really connected with the situational awareness offered by 2D, even with headtracking. I recently invested again in a VR Headset and it definitely gives my senses a chance to match the flight maneuvers with what they are meant to be good for.
I hope I will catch up the baseline, to be a reliable wingman. And may be make some new friends on the way. I just love to be part of a plan, play my role and let the 'esprit de corps' do it's magic.

Brandy
