Sparky, as the op this Sunday (1st April) is not an official op you are able to take part from around 20:30 BST (GMT+1).
In selecting the motto... 'all for one and one for all'... I have done so because it expresses what should be the creed to every Fighter Pilot. Never forget that you are an essential cog in the wheel, and if you break or fail it will let down your brother pilots, and the grimness of war allows for no such weakness.

Thanks Tom, I'll be there.

Thanks to Tom and Silk and Wardy and everyone else helping me tweak my VR video settings in IL2 and Steam VR. You guys are the best. Now I may see you a half-second before I hear "takka takka takka". May see you.

Gentlemen, in preparation for AF3 I seek video or written guidance to fighter-bombering. Moggy posted a three-part guide to level-bombing (they should charge me by the hyphen) but I'll not use niceties like keypads and specialized bombsights. Those are for the fellows who passed math classes. I 'passed' on math classes.

Being a Yank I throw overhand. I think cricket's something you hear of an evening or when you ask for volunteers and underhand is wifey tactics.

So I load up the 109 gift basket and I presume some sort of delay so I don't share the wealth but beyond that I'd like some sort of guide, preferably from someone who lived to tell of it. Any recommendations, gentlemen?

Hints on angle of approach, airspeed for bombing and strafing, recommended delay setting for bombs, methods to reduce vulnerability to ground fire, what wine goes with strafing, etc.

3 second delay. Dive at around a 30 degree angle. Drop at around 300m when the target disappears under your nose then run. Do not dive too steeply or you will not pull out in time.

just an idle thought but shouldn't level bombing from altitude be part of the training schedule?
perhaps we could start with Sparky :-)

Nah, you should start with a promising student. Besides, it's training for prospective bomber pilots. I only recognize two a/c types: fighters and targets.

You just need a lot of practice, after years of dropping boxes onto german tanks, you will hit anything under any angle doing any speed :D

I took Tom's advice, used it in conjunction with my first video recording so I could review impact point and cockpit view/ altitude upon release. I need more practice but Tom's advice was very helpful. When I follow Tom's instructions to the letter the bomb hits directly on target. When.

Jacko, I'll try that soon but for AF3 I think I need to practice air to mud with the 109. I will definitely try the 87 for fun as you recommend.

If I can't take out tanks or artillery pieces maybe I can take out a tree, with my engine. Don't pray for the opposing ground forces. Pray for the squirrels.

Feldwebel Sparky passed AF3, not only did he see T34's and drop them a gift, I swear he could tell you which factory they were made in.
