Battle of Stalingrad Mission Editor
Tutorial 01 - The basics

[ytubehd][/ytubehd]
(new link now 1080P)

Hi, to get you all started with the ME I’ve created a video tutorial for setting up a simple DF server mission based on the one we flew on Tuesday. You can download the template here:

http://www.ijeremiah.pwp.blueyonder.co. ... mplate.zip

Unzip to “IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\Multiplayer\Dogfight\”

You will find the Mission Editor STEditor.exe in your “bin\editor\” folder.

Setting up the DServer

To run your own DF mission you will need to run the Dedicated Server program DServer.exe from your “bin\Game\” folder.

However before you begin you will need a second account for the DServer to login with. You can get a free additional account by following the instructions here:

http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/147 ... iscussion/

You’ll need to check your Starup.cfg file in your games Data folder. Change the network settings to add your IP address to something like this:

[KEY = network]
available_ip = "add your computers IP address here (such as 192.168.0.4)"
client_download_traflimit = 1000
client_ip = "add your computers IP address here (such as 192.168.0.4)"
client_upload_traflimit = 1000
downloader_port = 28100
server_download_traflimit = 1000
server_upload_traflimit = 1000
tcp_port = 28000
udp_port = 28000

Change your router/firewall to allow forwarding of ports TCP 28000, TCP 28100 and UDP 28000.

Get my TP_DF_test.sds file from here (right click and save link as):

http://www.ijeremiah.pwp.blueyonder.co. ... F_test.sds

and put it in your Data folder. The .sds file is loaded into the DServer and contains the mission difficulty settings and loads the mission files. You can have as many .sds files as you want.

Then start the server run the DServer.exe and open the sds file.

Ask any questions below and more tutorials to follow. :D

Are there any guides to what the traflimits should be set to? I seem to remember in RoF, the rule of thumb was 10% of your download\upload.

Actually, I could just check the RoF startup.cfg and copy the settings (currently set to 10mb down\1mb up) to the BoS startup.cfg...unless there's something different in the BoS settings I need to be aware of?

I have mine set to 8mb down and 3mb up (on a 46/8 connection). That has proven fine so far.
In selecting the motto... 'all for one and one for all'... I have done so because it expresses what should be the creed to every Fighter Pilot. Never forget that you are an essential cog in the wheel, and if you break or fail it will let down your brother pilots, and the grimness of war allows for no such weakness.

No worries, I've used my RoF settings of 10mb down and 1mb up. If needs be, I'll bump up the upload.
