Feldwebel Fritz leaves Kalach

Post by Merlin »

Gentlemen I am pleased to announce Feldwebel Fritz has completed A/F4 dispatching two Pe2's leaving one to tell the tale.

Gosho will be assigning you an aircraft shortly. The skins are available from the Official Tangmere Downloads room.
TP Kuband skinpack from Dropbox.com, 197MB.
Goths Head Line Skin Pack - 150 MB
TP Kuband 2a skinpack from Dropbox.com, 137MB.

*points to remember:

- Don't shoot down Tom, some still think its a compulsory right of passage on completing OTU
- Be sure to have the right skin on for ops as the political officer is an unrelenting stickler for the rules, accumulate five Political Officer displeasure points and you will get shot.
- If you do anything exceptional make it a good one or they will never let you forget it.

We have great need of your talents on the Russian front.

Welcome to the Tangmere Pilots.

Hurrah!

Just watch out for them 5th staffel lot. They cover themselves in Russian mud, dance around naked then all cram into a single field tent. Then there is silence....
In selecting the motto... 'all for one and one for all'... I have done so because it expresses what should be the creed to every Fighter Pilot. Never forget that you are an essential cog in the wheel, and if you break or fail it will let down your brother pilots, and the grimness of war allows for no such weakness.

Thanks all! Looking forward to getting into the Ops on Sundays - and a big thanks to Merlin for the OTU flights. I'll make sure to get all the skins installed tonight.

Heh - yes. Those exceptional things that follow you. Like the time I was leading an F/A-18 flight into enemy territory - it was a long flight to our ingress, and I'd had a long day. The quiet rumble of the engines lulled me to sleep, and we overshot our IP waypoint by nearly 60 miles as a result before I was jerked awake by the sound of my squad mates laughter...

Actually, that's the amusing part - my squadmates kept formation and didn't fly off to continue the mission. That was what I always retorted with when it was brought up later. :Wink

Having said that tho, I think they stayed in formation because they didn't realize I'd dozed off at first, thinking I was planning a different approach or something and was just being quiet or having comms trouble (this was back in the Roger Wilco days mind you).

You were the mission leader. They did exactly as they should and the emissions guidelines (no tawdry remarks, children) might prevent radio transmissions asking "Whisky Tango Foxtrot, over?" In real life I'd have flown my a/c close to lead to see if he'd lost consciousness due to hypoxia. Then I might fly so as to trail some wake turbulence over his a/c to wake him up.

Yes, good points - and that's how they countered my rebuttals. Technically, I wasn't the mission lead; I was just flying lead in formation at the time. But yes. I fell asleep enroute to a target. :P
