F Sgt Kolo has arrived at Sutton Bridge

Post by Tom »

Gentlemen,

we have a new chap, Kolo, who has just passed his Assessment Flight 1. He did moderately well (and scared me witless by flying too close) and he also did well on a practice op, destroying the most targets (only 1 air to air target though *sniff*) and most importantly he didn't shoot at me.

Welcome him in the usual Tangmere way just make sure he is knocked out first and the doctor is on hand for the afters. Oh, and he's Canadian so hopefully he'll tell our Fat Controller which information he's got wrong during the next campaign (Announcement about that in a couple of weeks).

I'll now be wandering over to Merlin's hut to see if he's set fire to anything else.

Carry on.
In selecting the motto... 'all for one and one for all'... I have done so because it expresses what should be the creed to every Fighter Pilot. Never forget that you are an essential cog in the wheel, and if you break or fail it will let down your brother pilots, and the grimness of war allows for no such weakness.

Air Vice Marshal Saul in the foreword to 13 Group's 'Forget-Me-Nots for Fighters'

"They fly Hurricanes, isn't it? Them's shit planes for remtards on free dinners..."

Tent, sir. Unusual of you to not notice that we've been under canvas for some time now......

Welcome Kolo. What is a Kolo? Is it a Taiwanese mint?

You say he is a Canadian Tom but he sounds like a bloody Yank to me. Then again they all sound the same.

He was definitely the lowest flying on the Boddenplatte op.

What caused Merlin's BBQ was he decided to take an incendiary bomb home as a souvenir from the last air raid.

Welcome Kolo. Good job on the Bodenplatte sunrise mission. Nice to see someone who believes real pilots fly taildraggers.

Yes, only Tom has his Tuesday/Friday food and wine pairing commercial. I think he gets paid for those.

Just remember the Tangmere Pilots rule, "No smoking twelve hours before the brief, no drinking within fifty feet of the aircraft." :hmm

Kolo, I'm assuming you've memorized the required word-for-word dialogue from the 1968 movie, Battle of Britain? You must recognize and use both stock phrases and obscure trivia. "You can teach monkeys... ; Don't just stand there. Get one up! ; Rabbit Leader- ; Never fly straight and level for more than thirty seconds.; Undercarriage lever a bit sticky sir?; Two section, scramble!; Repeat, please., etc., etc, and never dare to call a Buchon a 109.

Good to see most standard cliches already in place. Just room for a warning not to drop your soap near the 601 mess.

Have fun!
