Upgrading from i5 to i7 processor

Post by charlie »

Hi chaps,

Prangster very kindly sent me an i7 3778 3.4Ghz processor to replace my i5 4460. I am trying to find out if the i7 is compatible but it's a bit of a minefield trying to out.

The i7 is a LGA 1155 socket H2 but my mobo is a Gigabyte GA-H81M-D2V CPU socket type:1150 . Tom posted a compatibility list but I cant see an i7 3778 on list (towards the bottom) - they begin at i7 4765:

https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/ ... -4460.html

Any help or advice here would be very much appreciated before I fit the new one! :rof_salute

Unfortunately no, the 1150 and 1155 are not compatible.
