Tangmere Airfield
A small section of the original Tangmere Airfield survives today and is run by a team of Volunteers as the Tangmere Military Aviation Museum. The museum is a fantastic day out and holds many precious aircraft, including a full scale replica of the Spitfire Prototype and a full scale replica of Paul Richey’s Hawker Hurricane while he was operating from France with No1 Squadron. More modern aircraft include the original Hawker Hunter used by Neville Duke to break the Air Speed Record in 1953, as well as personal items which are special pieces telling the story of the history of the airfield, and the men who served there both on the ground and in the air.
